In Bentley OpenUtilities Designer, it is possible to build a hydraulic model of a stormwater or wastewater collection system from Bentley Utilities Designer. This is done by exporting the model from Bentley Utilities Designer to a .stsw file which can be used by any of the storm and sanitary products (SewerGEMS, SewerCAD, CivilStorm or StormCAD). The creation of the .stsw file is performed on a computer that has Bentley Utilities Designer installed. Once the .stsw file is created, it must be opened on a computer in which the hydraulic application is installed.

The Interoperability tools can be accessed through the menu item Wastewater > Utilities > Export to SewerGEMS menus.

When building and exporting hydraulic models for SewerGEMS, three options are available:

• Create a new hydraulic model
• Update an existing hydraulic model
• Update an existing hydraulic model with a child scenario
